My Perfect World
My friend LeAnn posted today about a very creative and insightful school project her son was assigned this week. Click here to read about it. I'd love to know the answer...Who would be in your perfect world?

I am still trying to decide about mine.

Renee, I've been thinking about this for a couple of days now as I read it originally on LeAnn's blog.

At first I was trying to think of people who were next to perfect in my opinion, or who had contributed so much to the world already. However even these seemingly "almost perfect" people struggle like the rest of us, and if thrown into this "perfect world" scenario would probably come up short of my unfair expectations. Whenever people come together there will undoubtedly enter conflict...eventually. Plus, if all the people in my "perfect world" were like me, or if I just chose people who agreed with me, supported me, esteemed me etc....where would growth come from? I need people in my life who will challenge me, speak the truth in love, wrong me so I can learn forgiveness, humble me, etc..

A 'perfect world' isn't all it's cracked up to be. I know someone who lives in a 'perfect world'. She refuses to accept or even acknowledge reality. Her life is performance and she lives in denial. It's sad really. It's the bumps and bruises of life that make us more like Christ and call us to lean and depend on Him. Would I even seek Him in a 'perfect world'? It's times of trials that increase my hunger for His presence.

If I lived in a "perfect world" now, would I still long for heaven?

So, my perfect world? I'd for sure keep my husband and son. Are they 'perfect'? No, but neither am I. They have been God’s greatest gifts to me and I can’t imagine living without them. So, there's three of my ten. I think I'd want to include unsaved friends and family so that I'd have people to share my "God stories" with and be able to fulfill God's call to "go and make disciples". I’d also want a Christian friend for myself, my husband and son so “iron could sharpen iron” and we could spur one another on to love and good works.

Anyway, there's a few ideas. This really is a great assignment and gets the brain thinking.

Living for Him in a not so perfect world,
Joy

Renee, wow thoughts of a perfect world can really make you think. And the idea of limiting to 10 scares me a bit, but if it's perfect I wouldn't feel bad for leaving anyone out right??

This makes me think of another project I heard of recently - the speaker was asking people about their hobbies and then asked why they play basketball, scrapbook, etc... Anyway, writing seems to be a hobby I never expected and as a rookie in the blogging world, the question had me. I've been thinking about it lately and had some answers, but God has revealed a purpose I never expected this last week, which is what I posted about today.

Thanks for giving me something to think about today.

I want to be the first to call dibs on George Clooney before Karen grabs him (no pun intended) for her perfect world!

Seriously... I'm still thinking about my perfect world. You could take this in so many directions.

You would be in mine if you agree to share your jewelry!

Love You,
LeAnn

Me, too. I posted a comment on her blog. I loved this assignment, and whoever thought it up should be nominated for a Nobel Prize! It's awesome.

Great idea! I'm going to ponder over this one over the weekend. Enjoy your weekend, too!

Wow, a perfect world?!? This 'project' really makes you think about who and really, why? I can only imagine that the people I pick would only remain "perfect" in that world for so long because things and people change...it would be impossible to pick 10 people who would really challenge me. After reading some of the comments I had to quote joyful..."A 'perfect world' isn't all it's cracked up to be. It's times of trials that increase my hunger for His presence." and I totally agree.
